Galant Reveil
The "Galant Reveil" seems to precede the lovely art of the eighteenth century, and we see it crowning the top of the oval frame in a delicate decoration of that century. This smiling nudity, which is repeated in the mirror is perhaps a representation of the lovers in one of the gracious allegories or mythologies of Natorie, Lagrenee or Taraval. We can’t reproach Mr Joannon to have the inspiration from the lovers we could only thank him to have revived that gallant and gracious art.
